Higher Cert in Business in Accounting

This course combines business and accounting subjects to enable you to explore accounting as a specialism. As well as providing a good foundation in accounting, the programme can be a stepping-stone to a one year add-on Ordinary Degree (level 7) in Accounting at IT Sligo.
When you graduate with the Higher Certificate in Accounting you will possess a good foundation in the basics of the finance function. Typical roles you could expect to secure include: bookkeeper, payroll clerk, credit controller, purchase ledger clerk and assistant accountant.

*New Common Points Scale
The new Leaving Certificate Common Points Scale from 2017 is not directly comparable with the scale that was in existence from 1992 to 2016.
Applicants should list their CAO course choices in genuine order of preference and they will be offered the course highest up on their list that they are deemed eligible for, if any.

As well as providing a good foundation in accounting, the programme can be a stepping-stone to a one year add-on Ordinary Degree (level 7) in Accounting at IT Sligo.
In addition, graduates of the ordinary degree in Accounting can subsequently pursue a fourth year honours degree (level 8). The Honours Degree currently attracts full exemption from CAP1 examinations with Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI).
