Regardless of your discipline, EwS 2018 promises to be a great event for all educators teaching, or wishing to teach, the principles of sustainable development.
It is recognised that the principles of sustainability need to be introduced to all students. The challenge educators face is how to embed this topic into programmes and educational methodologies. EwS 2018 aims to showcase national and international examples of best practice in the development and delivery of pedagogical methods around sustainable development.
In addition presentations from national and international speakers EwS 2018 will provide workshops free to conference participants.
There will also be an opportunity for attendees to visit the international undergraduate summer academy ‘Sustainable Futures’. This undergraduate event, founded by Mid Sweden University seven years ago will, for the first time, be hosted by the Institute of Technology, Sligo.

EwS Workshops
As an attendee at EwS 2018, you have the opportunity to attend one of the three training workshops. EwS 2018 will over the following workshops;
- Workshop 1 – Life Cycle Analysis – Training on LCA for sustainable development
- Workshop 2 – Corporate Social Responsibility and Design
- Workshop 3 – How Unsustainable are the Sustainable Development Goals?
All the workshops will report to the conference afterwards to share their outputs.
Sustainable Futures Summer Academy Open Door Event
In tandem with the EwS conference we will be running our Sustainable Futures student summer academy. Attendees will have an opportunity to visit the summer academy. They will have an opportunity to meet students and teaching staff and learn more about this event and its philosophy of imparting the principles of sustainability within international, multidisciplinary teams.
