An analysis of Local Authority planning provision for Event Management in Ireland

This doctoral research examines the level of Local Authority planning for event management in Ireland. It assesses the nationwide provision of planning tools and guidelines in place to manage the diverse social, cultural, environmental and economic impacts generated by events. This will effectively identify and highlight the deviations and gaps found while investigating the provision of planning by Local Authorities. The research will also develop and provide a sustainable planning framework, which meets international best practice, to assess Local Authority planning processes and guidelines for event management.

This will essentially aid in the development of a tool that can assist Local Authorities in planning sustainably for event management. The framework developed for the assessment of Local Authorities may be used in future in the context of a possible longitudinal study.
