Graduated from Dublin City University (DCU) with a BSc(Hons) in Analytical Science 1988 and a PhD in Electrochemistry 1992 under the supervision of (now) Prof Dermot Diamond. Employed in the Food Research Centre (Teagasc) as a researcher investigating residues of controlled and banned substances in food and food products by GC-MS and LC-MS. Took up a position in the Forensic Science Laboratory, Phoenix Park, Dublin as a Forensic Scientist with responsibility for analysis and reporting of illegal drug casework. Moved to Sligo in 1998 taking up a position in the invitro diagnostics industry as a QA Team Leader. Eventually moved to the Quality Systems area in the role of Quality System Manager . In 2007 took up an academic post in the School of Science as a Lecturer in Forensic Science on the Forensic Investigation and Analysis programmes (Level 7 and Level 8). |
