Since
Marketa Formanova came to Ireland in 2006, she has developed
her theatre dance skills in Movement whilst tutoring in BA (Hons) in Performing Arts in Computing and
Creative Practices Department (currently Yeats Schools of Arts, Architecture and
Design) at the Institute of Technology in Sligo (2008-pres). After obtaining her Masters of Arts in Dance
Performance (2016) at
the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance in University of Limerick, she became an Assistant Lecturer in
the credited dept. Last year she started teach Dance Elective in BB (Hons) in applied Sport with Business in Marketing,
Tourism and Sport Dept. Temporary she taught the
Dance, Puppetry, Drama and Art in the BA (Hons) Early
Childhood Care and Education and Social Care Practice (2012-13, 2015-17) in Social Sciences Dept.
Facilitation
Her
professional practice has implied facilitation
of dance workshops and visual arts for children and adults in The Model Art Gallery, County Sligo Youth
Theatre and Factory Theatre in Sligo, and in The Dock Art Centre in Carrick-on-Shannon since 2011. She was involved to lead Irish Youth Theatre
group and create dance workshops culminating into choreography of Shakespeares plays in the International Festival of Creativity for
young people with and without handicap in Slovakia (2013). Several of dance
theatre projects exposed her interest in childrens creation to reach art
education of young audience (Tiny Shows, Branar Theatre, Galway; Freak Show,
Cairde Arts Festival, Sligo; The Big Draw, The Model, Sligo; Summer Camps with
workshops and performances, etc.).
Professional Training
Marketa
trained professionally at the Duncan
Centre Conservatoire in Prague (CZ) and then MA of Contemporary Dance Performance in already mentioned Irish World
Academy. As a dancer as well as theatre
artist and choreographer she has worked on various contexts.
Her main projects include Blue Raincoat
Theatre Company, Luna Nua
Theatre Company, Tulips and Oysters Cross Arts Theatre, Magpie Theatre and Undercurrent. A co-founder of cross arts company Hereinafter Performance, she has
performed live work with this company for theatres, galleries and site
specifics, often in collaboration with musicians, actors and visual artists in
North-West of Ireland (2012-16).
Research and Others
Among other things,
Marketa evolve her practice in the Aikido,
Yoga and other somatic practices to utilize her knowledge in dance/physical
education. Her interest and research in both Body & Landscape and Body
& Mind supports and develops her dance practice and teaching methods
simultaneously as an artist same as a teacher.
