Biography

Dr Kenny received a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from University College Dublin (2009).  Afterwards, Owen undertook a Walsh Fellowship PhD position with Teagasc, where he was later awarded his PhD in Natural Product Chemistry & Pharmacognosy by University College Dublin (2014). Since then, Owen has worked in various research and academic roles within Teagasc Food Research Centre, University College Dublin and the Institute for Global Food Security at Queen’s University Belfast. At IT Sligo, Owen is responsible for the coordination of modules related to Nutritional Biochemistry, Food Science, Final Year Projects & Industrial Placement. His research interests include; natural product chemistry, food & nutritional analysis, food sustainability and antimicrobial resistance.
