Triskell Seafood Ltd installed a 12.375kWp roof-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) system which consisted of 33 PV panels and a 10kW inverter. Lower Carbon Lower Cost provided Triskell Seafood Ltd with technical support from Atlantic Technological University Contract Research Unit (ATU CRU) and financial support from the Local Enterprise Office Sligo. ATU CRU carried out an energy audit which included a solar PV assessment on Triskell Seafood Ltd’s facility. The audit found that there was potential for solar PV to reduce energy consumption on site. The solar PV assessment captured the energy demand from the company and then sized a solar system to match the demand. With this information, the ATU CRU assisted with a request for quotation (RFQ) and planning permission. The system has a 6.6-year payback and will save the company €2,081 a year.
