Tell us a little bit about yourself and what led you to choosing your course: 

My name is Eliška and I’ve moved to Ireland from the Czech Republic in the beginning of this semester to study at ATU Sligo. I like to gain new experience, I’m adventurous and a bit crazy. I’m studying abroad after all!

Health and fitness are two of my biggest passions and that’s why I chose to study Human Nutrition. I love to learn about all the factors that influence our health and want to show people that through living a healthy lifestyle, they can live a fulfilled and longer life.

What specifically about the course do you particularly enjoy?

So far lecturers are my favourite! They are so kind, helpful and their approach is incredible. It is so different in the Czech Republic, lecturers don´t remember your name there and don´t ask you how you are doing.  I also love that we often discuss several health-related problems and share our opinions.  

What is the best thing about your course that you think new applicants should know?

I think studying Human Nutrition is going to give people a great insight into how our bodies function and how food that we consume determine our health status. By learning all of this, we can not only take the best care of our bodies to prevent several health issues but show other people how to do it as well.  

What are your plans after ATU Sligo and any long term goals you are aiming for?

 I don’t have any plans, the only thing I know is that I want to help people live a happier, healthier and longer life. I also see that eating disorders are becoming a huge problem so I’d like to focus on this issue as well. 

Are you enjoying your time studying and/or living in Sligo ?

Living abroad is a huge experience for me. I´m glad that I chose Sligo because there’s everything I need! Shops, a cinema, parks, mountains… and beaches just a few kilometres away! I also found some great friends here and can’t wait to go on many adventures with them!
