Having being elected as the Students’ Union President I gave a commitment to continue the momentum created by previous officers to make sustainability a core value at our college.
Our campus is nestled in the scenic beauty of one of the most historic landscapes in the country. Now more than ever our members require that we not only leave the world the way we found it but that we strive to make it a better place.
The UN World Commission on Environment and Development says that “sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
ATU Sligo Students’ Union and our members are committed to working with our partners in the Institute, including the student funded Environmental Society and the Green Campus Committee towards a more sustainable campus for us all. As we continue our journey towards a Technological University we will be bold and innovative in creating positive sustainable change.
