Tuition Fees
The tuition fees that you will pay at ATU Sligo will depend on your course of study and your fee assessment category.
The tuition fees that you will pay at ATU Sligo will depend on your course of study and your fee assessment category.
ATU Sligo has 3 categories of fee assessment: Free Fees, EU Fees and Non-EU Fees.
The Non-EU Fee will apply to most international students from outside of the EU/EEA who are studying on full time courses.
To be eligible for another fee category, you must meet the eligibility criteria listed in the Fees Criteria and Determination and be able to provide supporting documentation.
The Non-EU tuition fees for applicants beginning their studies in the 2023/24 academic year will be:
- Undergraduate Courses– €10,500 per academic year
- Postgraduate Courses– €12,000 per academic year

If your tuition fees will be paid by an external organisation, government or scholarship you must provide ATU Sligo with evidence of this sponsorship.

If you are required to repeat an examination during your studies, you will be required to pay a repeat exam fee.

International Scholarships
Payment Methods & Installment Plans
To accept your offer and secure your place at ATU Sligo you must pay your tuition fees by the deadline in your offer letter.
For the 2023/24 Academic Year Non-EU tuition fees can be paid in two installments. The following deadlines and payment amounts apply:
Tuition Fee Deposit:
- Undergraduate: €1000 payable within 90 days if offer is generated Pre-December 31st, 60 Days from January 1st to June 30th and 30 days thereafter.
- Postgraduate: €1500 payable within 30 days of date of offer letter.
Tuition Payment Deadlines:
- Undergraduate: a) minimum of Full Fee by 30.06 (visa required) OR 31.08 (non-visa required)
- Postgraduate: full fees must be paid on or before a) 31.05 – For September intake. Full Fees must be paid within 60 Days of Offer Letter up to March 31st. Thereafter 30 days.
ATU Sligo has partnered with Flywire and Transfermate to allow applicants to send international payments easily and securely.
You will be able to track the progress of your payment and download a receipt directly from your payment portal account.

- You can receive a full refund provided you officially withdraw due to a visa refusal (Must be supported by letter from DFA)
- If you withdraw prior to 31.08 (reasons other than visa refusal) you are entitled to refund of tuition paid less 50% of the deposit.
- If you withdraw between 01.09 to 31.10, you are entitled to a refund of tuition paid less the deduction of a) 100% deposit: and b) €250 refund admin fee.
- If you withdraw between 01.11 to 31.01, you are entitled to 25% refund of tuition paid (where fees have been paid in full)
- Withdrawal on or after 01.02 results in no refund.
- Where a student defers to a subsequent year, the fee policy from the date of deferral will apply.
How do I officially withdraw?
- Applicants / Offer Holders must notify the International Office at internatonaloffice@nullitsligo.ie
- Current Students if you have already commenced your academic studies, you must follow the withdrawal procedure here.
If you do not pay a minimum of €6,000 of your tuition fees by the deadline in your offer letter, your offer will be withdrawn.
If you do not pay the remainder of your tuition fees by 31st October, late fee payment penalities will apply. Please see Fees and Grants for further information.
Living Costs
Living costs in Ireland will vary depending on a student’s personal lifestyle and choice of accommodation.
The approximate living costs (excluding tuition fees) for students in Ireland is estimated at €10,000-€15,000 per academic year.

International students should also consider the additional costs of studying abroad including:

ATU Sligo does not have its own accommodaton but there are many private accommodation providers located close to campus.
They offer a range of different accommodaton options with different prices and packages.

Students from outside of the EU/EEA can work in Ireland in casual employment for a maximum of 20 hours per week during the school term provided they have a valid Irish Immigration Permit / Stamp 2 permission.
However, you should have sufficient funding to support yourself without the need for a part time job.
When you apply for a visa or register with immigration in Ireland, you must provide evidence that you have sufficient funding to support yourself financially.
